A corruption scheme related to the issuance of fake medical certificates of medical unfitness for military service has been uncovered in Kharkiv. According to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Eastern Region, the former head of one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centers (TCK) is accused of receiving a bribe of 25,000 hryvnias.

The prosecutor’s office information states that the accused, together with an officer from the registration and booking department of the same center, agreed with the head of the medical commission to declare the conscript unfit for service due to health reasons. To avoid suspicion, the bribe was passed through an intermediary. After receiving the money, the medical officer issued a fake medical certificate.

According to part 2 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of influence), the accused faces a fine ranging from 34,000 to 85,000 hryvnias or imprisonment for a term of 2 to 5 years.

A separate criminal investigation has been initiated against the officer from the registration and booking department involved in this scheme.
