The transition to LED traffic lights in Lviv
The process of replacing outdated incandescent traffic lights with new energy-efficient LED models is actively ongoing in Lviv. The installation of 288 new traffic light systems is planned, with 167 modern economical devices already installed. This accounts for 80% of all traffic lights in the city, as reported by Lvivavtodor Municipal Enterprise.
The new traffic lights are characterized by significant advantages:
- Electricity consumption is 5-10 times lower than in old models;
- Improved visibility of signals for drivers and pedestrians;
- Increased road safety for all traffic participants.
In total, Lvivavtodor Municipal Enterprise maintains 167 traffic light objects, which represents over 2100 traffic lights of different types. Since January 2024, the number of incandescent traffic lights in the city has decreased from around 600 to approximately 400.
