Charges and sentencing
According to the charges, during the period from November 10, 2023, to April 2, 2024, the man liked at least 14 posts with banned communist symbolism. This included the state emblem, the flag of the USSR, and other images with the sickle, hammer, and five-pointed star.
The accused was charged with creating and disseminating communist and Nazi symbols, as well as propaganda of totalitarian regimes of communism and national socialism (Nazism). He faced up to five years in prison with property confiscation for this. However, on April 17, 2024, the accused made a deal with the prosecutor to plead guilty.
