Lviv City Council Plans to Create New City Square

Lviv City Council plans to create a new square in the city center on the site of the former «Dobrobut» market. This decision was approved at the meeting of the executive committee of the city council on May 24.

According to the decision of the executive committee, the area bounded by Knyaz Yaroslav Osmomysl, Lazneva, Syanska, and Pidmurna streets is designated for the creation of a new city square. However, preparation for the start of construction will only begin after the completion of the court proceedings regarding the use of the land plot where the «Dobrobut» market was previously located.

In the event of a court ruling in favor of the city council, the Department of Architecture will develop a concept for the future square, including recreational areas and a small water feature. It is also planned to create a connection between the square and the green areas of Pidvalna and Svoboda Avenue to form a central green belt in place of historical defensive structures. The Department of Mobility is already developing a new traffic organization scheme around the future square to ensure convenient and safe access to it.
