NATO Partners Seek More Details on Stoltenberg’s 100 Billion Euro Plan for Ukraine
NATO partners are pushing for more information from NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg regarding his proposal to allocate 100 billion euros to Ukraine over the next five years. The plan, aimed at providing financial assistance to Kyiv in the event of Donald Trump’s reelection as US President, has sparked questions and concerns among some of Ukraine’s Eastern European allies.
Speaking anonymously, an Eastern European official described the plan as «a bit muddled,» while another official from a pro-Ukraine country hinted that the 100 billion euro figure may be subject to revision. Despite these reservations, allies recognize the need to show concrete support for Ukraine.
Sources indicate that partners are seeking clarity from Stoltenberg during the upcoming NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Prague. The plan, initially proposed in April, is slated for discussion at the July summit in Washington. However, Bloomberg sources suggest that revisions are likely before it gains full approval.
If accepted, Stoltenberg’s proposal could signify a more active role for NATO in supporting Ukraine’s efforts. Stay tuned for updates as discussions continue.
