French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his intention to form a «French brigade» from Ukrainian soldiers. He made this statement on Thursday, June 6, as reported by Le Figaro.

According to the president, the task is to train 4,500 Ukrainian soldiers, equip them, and teach them to «defend their land» in order to form a «French brigade.»

However, there is currently no talk of sending French soldiers to Ukraine.

«Ukrainian President [Volodymyr Zelensky] and Defense Minister [Rustem Umerov] called on all allies to accelerate the training of soldiers. We must ask ourselves whether this contributes to escalation. The answer is no,» Macron noted.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the country will send Mirage 2000 aircraft to Ukraine.
