Belgium National Team Defender Jan Vertonghen Retires
At the age of 37, Jan Vertonghen has announced the end of his international career with the Belgium national team.
The defender’s final match for the «Red Devils» was a 0-1 defeat to France in the round of 16 of Euro 2024. Unfortunately, Vertonghen’s own goal proved to be the deciding factor in the match, leading to France’s victory and advancement to the quarterfinals.
Having made his debut for Belgium in 2007, Vertonghen has represented his country in 157 matches and scored 10 goals during his impressive international career.
