Apple Expands Self Service Repair Program for MacBook Pro and iMac Owners
Apple’s Self Service Repair program, launched two years ago, has been steadily expanding. Starting today, owners of the latest MacBook Pro and iMac models with M3 chips can access repair tools, parts, and manuals.
Since April 2022, the Self Service Repair program has enabled users to utilize original Apple parts and tools used in Apple stores and authorized service centers. Soon, owners of devices with M3 chips will be able to use Apple Diagnostics for self-repair. This web tool helps test devices for optimal functionality and identifies parts that need repair.
Apple is also improving the system configuration process for all Mac models to simplify repairs. Mac owners will no longer have to contact the Self Service Repair support team to complete repairs. The updated process will be available early next month in all countries supporting Self Service Repair.
The Self Service Repair program is part of Apple’s efforts to expand access to repairs, prolong product lifespan, and have a positive impact on the environment.
