The State Bureau of Investigations Exposes Corruption Scheme Involving Odessa Police Officer
The State Bureau of Investigations has sent to court a case accusing a police officer from Odessa of offering a criminal a scheme to avoid criminal responsibility. According to information from the SBI press service published on Nikcenter, the police officer, who was investigating online fraud, proposed a corrupt deal to the fraudster.
He agreed with the criminal to earn $10,000 for halting the investigation and returning the seized assets from the search, as well as demanded 20% of the sales. He received money for «services» personally, and transferred monthly percentages to an intermediary. The law enforcement officer was arrested in September last year, and the investigation has been completed, with materials sent to court.
Now the court must decide on the punishment of the police officer, accused of receiving undue advantage as a public official.
