Corruption scheme in Odesa Customs: Department heads demanded bribes for expedited customs clearance of cars

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) uncovers corruption at Odessa Customs

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the Odessa region has reported on the systematic receiving of bribes by the head of the customs clearance department of the Odessa Customs. The official demanded monetary rewards for expedited customs clearance of vehicles imported from abroad. In case of refusal to pay, the procedures were delayed, and the costs were overestimated.

SBU officers managed to detain the manager during the transfer of a bribe for the accelerated clearance of several vehicles. Additionally, another official involved in a similar corruption scheme has been exposed.
