The Czech Republic to Deliver Artillery Shells for Ukraine
The first deliveries are expected within a few weeks. According to the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, Jan Irš, the first batch of artillery shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine may arrive in just a few weeks. He did not disclose which countries are financing the purchases or using their supplies, but noted that information about the deliveries will likely be disclosed upon their arrival.
The country’s president, Petr Pavel, previously reported that the Czech Republic has found approximately 500,000 155mm caliber shells and 300,000 122mm caliber shells to replenish Ukraine’s reserves, as aid from the US is currently «stuck» in Congress.
«The initiative of the Czech Republic is one way to demonstrate that we are actually doing something, rather than waiting to see what happens on Capitol Hill,» Irš said.
It is worth noting that representatives of the Czech Republic have identified 800,000 artillery shells of 155mm and 122mm calibers in third countries, which could be sent to Ukraine. Subsequently, a number of countries have agreed to allocate funds for their purchase.
