Georgia national team goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili shared his expectations for the Euro 2024 round of 16 match against Spain with Tribuna.com.
«Our main weapon is our ability to defend and play quick counterattacks. We have quality and fast players in attack,» Mamardashvili noted.
«The 7-1 defeat to Spain last year? I think we just had bad luck,» he added.
«The biggest threat in the Spain squad? Almost everyone. Yamaal has a lot of qualities: he scores goals, provides assists. Also, in my opinion, they have the best goalkeeper of the season in La Liga (referring to Unai Simon, — noted Tribuna.com). We will have to fight and stay focused, like we have done before,» the goalkeeper mentioned.
«Kvaratskhelia? I believe he is better than the whole Spanish national team,» he added.
«Beating Spain? I won’t say we will win. All we need to do is fight until the end and see where it takes us,» Mamardashvili concluded.
