The possibility of drilling water wells in Kharkiv

The possibility of drilling water wells to improve the water supply of the city is being considered in Kharkiv. This was announced by the mayor Igor Terekhov in an interview with LIGA.net, discussing the difficulties with water that arose after Russia’s attacks on the energy infrastructure.

Decentralization for stable water supply

Igor Terekhov noted that water supply is directly dependent on energy systems, and during blackouts in Kharkiv, there were interruptions in water supply. Currently, the city authorities are actively working on the decentralization of life support systems. One of the proposed solutions is drilling wells, which will reduce dependence on centralized systems and ensure stable water supply. Terekhov emphasized that decentralization is an effective approach to overcoming problems with water, heat, and electricity supply in wartime conditions.

Challenges in the upcoming heating season

However, the upcoming heating season may prove to be challenging, as TEC-5 suffered serious damage. In response to this, modular boiler houses have been actively built in the city for several years as part of the decentralization strategy for the heating system.
