The Ministry of Reconstruction delivers mini-CHP plants to Kharkiv

The Ministry of Reconstruction recently announced the delivery of 6 mini-CHP plants to the Kharkiv region, which are intended to provide heat to apartments.

The General Director of «Solar Generation» Stanislav Ignatiev shared some details with SQ. According to him, the 2 MW mini-CHP plants from the Austrian company Jenbacher are located in Kupiansk, Izyum, and other cities that were previously occupied.

One such plant can provide lighting and heat for approximately 1200 apartments. For full heating of a city the size of Kharkiv, at least 1500 of such installations are needed, but preferably more.

The installation and maintenance of such mini-CHP plants are not complex. In fact, they are containers that can be the size of a shipping container if it is a 10 MW CHP plant. They will be mounted on concrete blocks, the number of which depends on the size of the plant, and connected to the gas network. The presence of a gas network is a crucial condition for their efficient operation. For non-gasified areas, a gas pipeline can be laid, and the construction of this does not require much time.

As for the cost of the equipment: a 1 MW mini-CHP plant costs approximately 800 thousand euros.

Ignatiev emphasized that such mini-CHP plants could be an alternative to centralized heating, and currently, negotiations are underway at the state level for Ukraine to receive assistance in their procurement.

The news of the transfer of the first CHP plants has already sparked hope that next winter, despite the destruction of CHP-5, the region will not freeze.
