Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoya has announced plans to expand the country’s diplomatic representation abroad in the coming years during hearings in the parliamentary committee on foreign policy and European integration. This was reported by «European Truth» citing Radio Moldova.
In particular, according to Popsoya, by 2027 Moldova plans to open new embassies in Egypt and Kazakhstan, as well as additional consulates in the USA, Germany, and Canada.
«The expansion of our diplomatic presence is an important imperative, as only by increasing our diplomatic presence can we ensure better protection of the national interests of our country — political, economic, and security,» he emphasized.
Furthermore, the head of the Moldovan MFA announced plans to digitize consular services by creating an integrated information system «e-Consulate» and a centralized system for booking consular services.
It is worth reminding that many Western countries do not have their own embassies in Chisinau, and perform embassy functions through consular representations in Romania.
