International Support for Ukraine’s Right to Strike Russian Airfields

International community is actively discussing the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Recently, Poland officially supported Ukraine’s right to strike Russian airfields.

Poland has been on Ukraine’s side since the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the beginning of the war in Donbas. This support includes political statements, economic assistance, and military cooperation.

In the context of recent events related to attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure, Poland has decided that Ukraine has the right to defend itself, including strikes on military targets in Russia. This decision was supported by the Polish government after consultations with European and international partners.

Poland argues its support by stating that Ukraine has a legitimate right to self-defense under international law. Striking airfields from which Russian planes take off to attack Ukraine is a logical and necessary step to ensure the safety of Ukrainian citizens and the defense of the state.

Representatives of the Polish government emphasized that Ukraine’s actions are aimed exclusively at military targets, minimizing the risk to the civilian population of Russia. This approach is in line with the fundamental principles of proportionality and distinction in international humanitarian law.

Poland’s support for Ukraine on this issue has triggered various reactions in the international community. Some countries have expressed concerns about the potential consequences of such actions and fear escalation of the conflict. Other states have supported Poland’s position, emphasizing Ukraine’s right to defend its territory and citizens.

Poland’s support for Ukraine’s permission to strike Russian airfields is an important step in international politics. This decision highlights the importance of the right to self-defense and support for states defending their independence and sovereignty.
