Update on Rabbit R1 Software Improvements
Electronic assistant Rabbit R1 recently underwent a software update to address important security issues. One of the key changes introduced with the update was the addition of a «Factory Reset» function, allowing users to completely erase all data stored on the device.
Previously, user correspondence could not be deleted from the device, even when the account was unlinked. The update also fixed a flaw where external devices could access the Rabbithole journal, potentially posing a risk to user data security.
With the latest update, connected devices are now prohibited from reading the journal and the storage capacity has been reduced. The company has reassured users that there is minimal risk of data misuse from the Rabbithole journal by the previous owner.
In a separate incident, hardcoded API keys were discovered in the device’s code, leading to potential exposure of user data. The employee responsible for this error has been terminated, and the company is enhancing security measures to prevent similar instances in the future.
