Restoring the «Syne» Reservoir in Kyiv
In Kyiv, the restoration of the «Syne» reservoir in Vynohradar is planned. According to the director of the Department of Environmental Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change of Kyiv City State Administration, Oleksandr Vozny, opportunities are already being considered to involve a contractor to carry out priority measures to save the reservoir.
In particular, the priority is to clean the lake and deepen it in order to restore groundwater sources. This, in turn, will contribute to additional filling of the reservoir and improve the ecological condition.
According to project decisions, it is also planned to clean the connecting channel and unite the lake in a ring to equalize water levels and prevent stagnation.
The municipal enterprise «Pleso» announced the start of open bidding for the cleaning of the lake. After determining the winner and signing the agreement, work on revitalizing the reservoir will begin.
Previously, the «Syne» lake was recognized as one of the largest reservoirs in the capital. The water body was 700 meters long, up to 200 meters wide, and had a water area of about 15 hectares. It was a popular place for recreation, swimming, and fishing, as there were about 10 species of fish living there.
In 2020, the reservoir began to dry up. Today, the «Syne» lake is almost completely dried up.
