Russian Companies Dominate Global Nuclear Construction

Despite international sanctions, Russian companies continue to construct over a third of new nuclear reactors in various countries around the world, adding new partners to Moscow.

Rosatom’s Milestone in Bangladesh

«Rosatom,» the state-owned Russian nuclear giant, is constructing the first nuclear power plant in Bangladesh. This project, estimated to cost around $12 billion, is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the country with over 170 million population.

Addressing Energy Instability

The aim of increasing nuclear energy production to 10% in Bangladesh’s energy system in less than 10 years is a target set by «Rosatom.» The nuclear power plant, which will begin testing this year, is expected to address energy instability and power outages that negatively impact the country’s economy, especially its export sector in the garment industry.

Strengthening Moscow’s Influence

The project not only benefits Bangladesh but also holds strategic importance for Moscow, as it contributes to strengthening long-term relations with the country and expanding Kremlin influence in regions lacking their own nuclear capabilities.
