The Prosecutor’s Office of the Rahiv District of the Tyachiv District Prosecutor’s Office has sentenced a resident of the town of Yasinya to three years in prison for hooliganism involving the use of firearms.
Prosecutors confirmed that in December 2022, a conflict arose between the accused and two local residents. The latter were in a truck when the defendant came out onto the road with a hunting rifle and fired several shots in their direction. After the victims stopped and got out of the vehicle, the man attacked one of them with the butt of the rifle and again fired shots at the side of the road.
The men from the truck explained to the court that conflicts with local residents had become regular in the area due to the passage of trucks causing damage to the roads.
After the incident, the accused attempted to influence the victims through phone calls, threatening them with physical violence. He himself did not admit his guilt and disputed the testimonies of the witnesses. The court’s decision is pending final approval by the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
