In Mykolaiv region, seven women of different ages and professions are learning to become professional tractor drivers thanks to an initiative supported by UNDP Ukraine and the government of Denmark. This information was shared by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.
Among the participants are Nadia, Tetiana, Natalia, Viktoriia, Mariia, Karina, and Olena. The youngest of them is 18 years old, and the oldest is 47. Each of them has their own duties and responsibilities: driving a minibus, childcare, volunteering, or goat breeding. However, they have all decided to pursue a new profession as tractor drivers in a program aimed at women.
By mastering theory and practice of driving for five days a week for six hours, the participants will be eligible to drive a tractor after passing a state certification exam in the fall of 2024. The program aims to support women in agriculture, especially in the town of Snihurivka, known as an «agricultural region.»
